Application Guidelines for IRUVcoat® Transparent Solar Varnish

Overview
IRUVcoat® is a unique transparent solar varnish designed to significantly reduce solar gain. It is best applied with a roller to glass and plastic substrates. This single-coat application becomes touch-dry within 1 hour and fully cures in 3 days. The varnish can be applied internally or externally and comes with a 12-year warranty (valid only when professionally installed) against peeling or cracking. The cured surface forms a durable, scratch-resistant hard coat.

Coverage & Application Tips

• Thin Coating Required: Apply 20 mL of varnish per 1 m² of substrate. Excessively thick coats may crack or flake during curing.
• Optimal Clarity: Achieve 97% transparency by applying a single thin coat. Avoid direct sunlight during application.
• Environmental Conditions: Do not apply outdoors if moisture is present in the air or expected within 1 hour of application.

Recommended Use
Ideal for wall and roof-light-style glazing. For elevation glazing, window film is a more suitable solution. 

Step-by-Step Application Guide

1. Prepare the Roller:

• Use a high-density foam roller (similar to a gloss-paint roller).
• Clean the roller with a detergent-and-water solution to remove dust, silicones, or grease. Allow it to dry overnight before use.

2. Final Cleaning:

• After drying, vacuum the roller to eliminate residual dust particles.
• Protect Surroundings:
• Apply masking tape to shield gaskets and frames from accidental varnish spread.

3. Measure & Prime:

• Pour 20 mL of varnish per 1 m² into a paint tray and evenly prime the roller.

4. Apply the Varnish:

• Use light, even strokes. Begin with diagonal crosshatching to cover edges, then finish with overlapping vertical/horizontal strokes for uniform coverage.

5. Drying Process:

• Allow the varnish to dry. Initial haziness will resolve into transparency as it cures.

6. Repeat for Additional Panes:

• Follow the same process for subsequent panels.

7. Cleanup:

• Clean tools with IPA (isopropyl alcohol).
• Wear gloves when handling varnish or IPA.
• Regularly clean the roller tray if contaminated by dust.
